Resound aka Ilpo Karkkainen (in the demoscene also known as krii) is an artist, producer and DJ from Tampere, Finland. With signings on some of the most influential record labels in the industry he’s quickly establishing his sound in the forefront of drum & bass music today. Resound’s been in it for a while - with 12 years of production experience and a degree in music and sound technology he knows a thing or two about studio work. His DJ skills are equally acclaimed - he’s been delivering deadly sets for years across the europe as well as his resident night Pressure in Tampere, Finland. He is also deeply involved in running Pressure - a club that is known for it’s wicked atmosphere and pushing new standards for DNB nights in Finland. Resound also runs a radio show called “Resoundsound” on Bassdrive - the original and most popular DNB station on the internet. His tracks are now receiving well deserved exposure by a versatile cast of top DJ’s including Andy C, Bailey, Digital, Dylan, Flight, Goldie, Hype, Ink, L-Double, London Electricity, Loxy, Marcus Intalex, Pendulum, Raiden, Seba and Shy FX to name but a few. 2008 will be the year of collaborations with lots of tracks emerging from Resound co-produced with Digital, Loxy, Outrage and Subject 13. Resound also runs AUX Media - a company specializing in urban music production and sound design. He has composed game soundtracks and animation scores that have been heard by millions of people allover the world. glxblt (varkaus/.fi)

Being brought up in a family deeply involved with music, Ville Rastas a.k.a "Glxblt" spent most of his childhood happily bashing both the keys of his piano and his computer. However, as the young musician/geek reached his puberty, things went horribly wrong. Despite the classical training and responsible parenting, Glxblt developed an interest for electronic music which later on evolved into full-blown love for techno and especially drum'n'bass. Finding like-minded people in a small Finnish city was practically impossible, but eventually it happened and Glxblt made the first contact within the neighbouring town's rave scene and coincidentally, the demoscene. Since then the young junglist has honed his skills in producing and DJ'ing, focusing on the darkest, techiest newschool drum'n'bass you can find without forgetting about the rolling, danceable beats that define the genre. Filling in the demand for harder, heavier drum'n'bass, Glxblt is a bundle of big things just waiting to happen.

2krazy (berlin)

The Freak Camp story begins in the year 2000, when 2step reached Germany for the first time. Two guys from Berlin, 2krazy and J-trex, were fascinated by the dark and bass-heavy version of the new style which should later become known as dubstep, and subsequently decided to start their first party. Five years later at a now-infamous New Years Eve party, the two Freaks met a few more bass-addicts and the project picked up the pace. Having grown to 10 members, the crew put on the first monthly dubstep party in Berlin in January 2006. A radio show on online channel loud-fm.de followed soon after. Since then, the Freak Camp DJs attacked numerous Berlin clubs with heavy assaults, have toured nearly all over Germany and even had a gig in Poland. The present highlight as definitely been the invitation to curate a dubstep night for the renowned visual arts and music festival .Club Transmediale. in February 2007. The Camp keeps steadily evolving; members are currently working own their own music, have been seen repairing bass bins or are planning new parties - always according to the credo: You have to feel the bass!

Desmond Denker is playing music since the age of fifteen. He was listening to hardcore-punkrock and rap music from the start of his musical interest, so jungle and dub music became the next logical steps in digging into sound. Subbasslines made the healing and danceable part and postrock music became the conceptual and compositional part. Now Desmond Denker is playing synthesizer with the OliverTwistKooperation and producing half of the instrumentals for the BambamBabylonBajasch. He could not stop playing dubby sublow music, he is in fact kind of addicted to filling his room with low frequenced loops day by day. So he decided to create a new alias to publicate his vision of a techno-influenced dubmusic with 2step beats around 140 bpm.

Dexter Dub ist Produzent, Remixer und DJ aus Köln-Kingston. Er ist spezialisiert auf Reggae-Drum n Bass, Ragga-Jungle und Mashup-Drum n Bass aus den Bereichen Hip Hop, Funk, Elektro und Pop. Er produziert im Studio von Nippes Home Productions eigene Versions, Mash Ups und Remixe mit selbst aufgenommenen MCs oder Dubplates. Live präsentiert er ein DJ-Set mit virtuellen Plattenspielern und Live-Sampler. Es rollen die Amen Breaks und es knallen die Lickshot-Salven. Seine 12" Behold/Dub Mi Ya Choppa erscheint am 25.7.2008 auf Basspräsidium Records (BP 007).

penelope (düsseldorf)

Penelope übt ihre DJ-Tätigkeit hauptsächlich in und um Düsseldorf seit ca. 12 jahren aus. Abgesehen von zahlreichen Gast-Sets in diversen Clubs, etablierte sie 2002 die Partyreihe "Royal Beat Club", die in Düsseldorf zum Inbegriff für "Die" Underground Party wurde. Seit sie 2006 mit Dubstep infiziert wurde, dreht sich in ihren Sets und beim Royal Beat Club alles um Dubstep, um die musikalische Infektion zu verbreiten und die Menschheit gesund zu kranken!

Auch wenn Rap und Reggae am Anfang standen, sollte die global-urbane Reise durch Raum und Zeit für Mr.Lagos zügig einsetzender Provinzialisierung der Musik etwas entgegensetzten, dem Umstand Rechnung tragen, dass jede grandiose Musik ihren Ursprung in permanent ausgetragenen culture clashes und der stetigen Hybridisierung der Form hat. Musik als ständiger Zitierverweis, mit dem expliziten Versprechen, Grenzen zu überschreiten. Wo Proto- und Postdisco mit afrikanischer Salsa tanzt, Afrobeat mit dem Finger auf den Hardbop zeigt, Broken Beats auf brasilianischen Funk vorbereiten und alle zum New Orleans Voodoo Skank kreischen: Hier breitet sich die Spielwiese für Mr.Lagos aus, ohne in die wertfreie Beliebigkeit der "World Musik" zu fallen. Reggae got Soul, Bossa is all about Jazz, and Brazil knows how to do the Funk!

zak-fx (cologne)

Zak-FX wurde in Moskau geboren und lebt seit 18 Jahren in Deutschland. Neben seiner Ausbildung zum "GTA" befasst er sich mit der visuellen Umsetzung des Quake-Konzepts, so ist er zuständig für die Visuals bei den Veranstaltungen sowie für die Produktion der Videotrailer, hier merkt man auch seine Leidenschaft für Experimentalfilme und Animationen. Wo andere VJ´s bekanntes Material zum 1000. Mal resamplen, fotografiert er eigene Motive und stellt diese dann in einen außergewöhnlichen Kontext. Zak-FX konzentriert sich jedoch nicht nur auf das Visuelle, sondern produziert darüberhinaus auch hervorragende Tracks welche irgendwo zwischen TripHop und Drum&Bass zu finden sind.
